Robbie Thompson believes recent results have provided Inverness Caledonian Thistle with a timely confidence boost ahead of a double header against Championship leaders Queen's Park.

The Glasgow outfit head up to the Highland capital on each of the next two Saturdays, first in league action before a Scottish Cup clash at the Caledonian Stadium.

They will find a Caley Thistle outfit who have roared back to life across their last two matches, ending an eight-match winless run in the Championship in style with 10 goals and six points against Cove Rangers and Arbroath.

Thompson was one of a small group of youngsters returning from loan to boost the ICT squad for those games, in Thompson's case coming back from Clachnacuddin, and he says he has seen a difference in confident levels after those two triumphs.

"The first two games I've been involved in, we've scored 10 goals," he explained.

"I've not been on the pitch for them, but it's still really good and the team have improved a lot over the last few weeks. That's really good to see.

"The confidence is back, you can see it in training – the boys have been sharper, and things have been better. That leads to the Saturday, so we just need to keep going now.

"The last two results will help going into Queen's Park, 100 per cent. We need a big result on Saturday to keep climbing the table."

So far this month Thompson has made late substitute appearances – his first in the Caley Jags' first team.

However, he will not shy away from the occasion if he is called upon again against the Championship leaders, as he feels entirely comfortable in the Inverness set-up.

"I've been training with the first team for a year and-a-half, since I first went out to Clach on loan," Thompson added.

"I know the boys and I know how they want to play, and how the manager wants to play. That has made it a lot easier to come in and play in a proper match with them.

"They've been really good with me, helping me through the game and talking me through it, which has been really helpful.

"I'd love to get the chance to play again on Saturday. I always want to get on the pitch, and if I'm on the bench I want to go on and make an impact.

"I feel like I can do that, so I'm ready every time whether it's the league leaders or the team that's bottom of the league. I just want to get on the pitch and show what I can do."
