Inverness teenagers brought back a gold and a silver medal from the 29th GB Junior International Match in Bisley earlier this month.

Three members of Target Technique made the 600-mile trip south for their first ever away competition, which included shooters from as far afield as Jersey, Germany and South Africa.

Samara Robinson (17), Nathan Laing (13) and Lewis Dillon (14) travelled from Inverness to Bisley to take part in their first ever away competition in shooting.

Samara Robinson (17), Lewis Dillon (14) and Nathan Laing (13) travelled down from Inverness after working hard to hone their skills throughout their summer holidays and enter three categories – precision standing, pistol and three position shooting.

On paper, the odds were against them, as the age range for juniors rises as high as 21 years old – putting the youngsters against entrants with far more experience than them.

Undaunted, though, the Inverness trio took them on and recorded nine personal bests between them, showing continued improvement after having entered just 13 previous competitions in total.

Three position shooting was the category that saw the teenagers excel the most. Laing scored 550 out of a possible 600 to claim a gold medal, while Samara Robinson scored 539 out of the possible 600 to win a silver medal.

Dillon was only just outside of the podium places, commendably finishing fourth with his score of 456 out of 600.

Such was the youngsters' drive to improve, though, that they quickly returned to training on the final day of their summer holidays on Monday to boost their chances of winning more medals going forward.
