Inverness Tang Soo Do win 37 medals at home Highland Championships against athletes from across Scotland

Inverness Tang Soo Do recently played host to athletes from across Scotland for the Highland Championships at Hilton Community Centre.

Over 80 competitors descended on the Highland capital, 19 of which were representing the home team.

Inverness team members were extremely successful across a range of experiences, ages and disciplines, winning a total of 37 medals.

Among those were nine first places, 14 second places and another 14 third places.

Black belt Jack Anderson claimed the most medals, with the 19-year-old finishing second in forms, and third in knife, bo staff, sword and sparring.

Emmie Denoon was not far behind, though, as the 16-year-old black belt claimed four second place finishes in forms, knife, bo staff and nunchaku.

Gold medal winners included 19-year-old Laura Stewart in sparring and 25-year-old Diane Bruce among the black belts, 12-year-old blue belt Forbes Gajda in bo staff, orange belts Lily Fraser (11) in bo staff and Lewis Fraser (6) in forms and bo staff as well as seven-year-old white belt Max Wheeler in sparring.

Master instructor Kelly O’Connor was delighted with the performance of the whole Inverness squad, feeling it was a worth performance to mark the club’s 25th anniversary this month.
