All shinty matches cancelled including Sutherland Cup final due to Queen's death

All shinty matches this weekend have been cancelled as a mark of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Camanachd Association have confirmed no matches will take place on Saturday and will be rearranged for later this season.

This includes the Sutherland Cup final between Lovat and Newtonmore.

Camanachd Association president Steven Mackenzie confirmed the news.

“On behalf of the Camanachd Association, we extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

"As a mark of respect the Camanachd Association will join the nation in a period of mourning this weekend and reflect on the sense of service and the spirit that characterised Her Majesty’s long reign.”

It has also been confirmed the North Caledonian League and North Region Junior Football Association have cancelled matches as well as Scottish Rugby cancelling club matches.

Other competitions will announce whether matches will go ahead tomorrow later today.
