Aaron Doran gave Caley Thistle the lead with a free kick from 20-yards out which smacked against the crossbar and went over the line.

Dunfermline equalised with 20 minutes left through a spectacular 20-yard effort from Dominic Thomas.

But Walsh regained the lead minutes later to give Caley Thistle a vital three points.

Athletic had the early pressure and James Vincent received a booking after just nine minutes for a tug on the shirt on Paul Paton. From the resultant free kick, Thomas had a chance on goal but blasted his shot wide of the right-hand post.

Dunfermline had a golden chance to score a minute later when Ryan Dow’s cross found Kevin Nisbet unchallenged six yards from goal but he nodded wide of the post.

Dunfermline threatened again when Jonathan Afolabi danced through the centre of ICT’s defence to latch on to Thomas’s ball but fired wide of the right post.

But Caley Thistle took the lead after Aaron Comrie fouled Roddy Macgregor 20 yards from goal.

Doran’s free kick smashed against the underside of the crossbar and was ruled to have crossed the line by the linesman.

Dunfermline had a chance to level just before half time when Kyle Turner unleashed a spectacular effort from 20 yards that was well saved by goalkeeper Mark Ridgers.

Ridgers had to be alert at the start of the second half when Thomas was allowed to charge into the box and from 15 yards forced a save from the goalkeeper with Ryan Dow firing the rebound above the crossbar.

But Dunfermline got their reward for all the pressure with 20 minutes to go when Thomas launched a rocket 20 yards from goal straight into the top left corner of the net.

Walsh almost regained the lead for Caley Thistle when his shot from the edge of the box smacked the right post.

But he did find the net minutes later when his shot took a deflection off Euan Murray and beat goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams straight into the net which proved to be the winner.
