George Oakley hopes the togetherness within the Inverness Caledonian Thistle dressing room will see the club through their current injury crisis.

The Caley Jags were already missing seven players for Tuesday night’s match against Hamilton Academical, and picked up more problems on the night.

Oakley, who picked up several niggling issues during pre-season that forced a slow re-introduction to life in the Highland capital, says the bonds in the Inverness squad helped them to five Championship wins in-a-row – and it can help them through the challenges currently on the table too.

“People have to see that we’re putting our bodies on the line to try and get three points,” he explained.

“People are coming out with little injuries, which is part and parcel of the game. I’ve been there myself, and it’s not nice.

“We’ve got a good squad here that gets around each other and helps each other. It’s frustrating when people keep getting these little niggles, but all we can do is keep going and try to get three points for them too.

“Then the squad can only get stronger when they come back. These things happen, it’s annoying but we’ve got to get on with it.

“We’ve got a good bunch of lads who all work for each other no matter who we’re playing or how we’re playing.

“I hope the injuries aren’t as bad as they seem, but we’ve just got to keep going. We’re a family, so we’ve just got to get around each other and get three points to get back rolling again.”

ICT also missed the chance to go top of the table on Tuesday – but Oakley is not paying any attention to the standings just yet.

“At the moment you can’t be looking at the table, you’ve just got to be looking at the teams and games ahead,” he stressed.

“Tuesday night is gone now, so what can you do? All I can say for the team is that we’re really frustrated. We know that we’re better than that, and we’ve got to get back on another run.”
