Duncan Ferguson says Inverness Caledonian Thistle star David Wotherspoon is an injury doubt for this weekend’s match against Arbroath.

The Canadian international has been a sensation since moving to the Highland capital.

Wotherspoon has scored four goals in his eight appearances so far, as well as proving a creative force for teammates, quickly leading to calls for ICT to extend his short-term contract.

Ferguson has confirmed that Caley Thistle have made a good offer to the 33-year-old, but while a decision is yet to be made on his longer-term future there is a question mark over whether he will take to the field this weekend.

That is because Wotherspoon has rolled his ankle, which ruled him out of training on Thursday.

Roddy MacGregor returned to the Inverness squad for Tuesday night’s game at Morton, and he will continue to be involved in the Highland capital.

However, right backs David Carson and Wallace Duffy remain unavailable, and Harry Lodovica was also undergoing a fitness test on Thursday to check his status.

As far as playing options go, with the January transfer window fast approaching Ferguson also has one eye on recruitment.

He is already scouring the market for players, including taking in some potential signings on trial deals.

“I brought some trialists in last week and will bring another two in on Sunday with a view to them training on Monday,” Ferguson said.

“We have a bounce game on Tuesday against Nairn and play them in that.

“I won’t name anyone now. It won’t be anyone you’ll know.

“We’re always looking to get players in and it’s now coming towards the January transfer window. We’re putting the feelers out as best we can to get some players in.

“We have a good group who are working really hard, but of course we are ambitious and we want to bring in more quality as well.”
