Ross County midfielder Jordan Tillson has left the club on a temporary basis.

The 30-year-old missed a chunk of pre-season in Dingwall through injury, and has only featured in a total of 49 minutes for the Staggies so far in the 2023/24 campaign.

Several summer arrivals in central midfield made it difficult for Tillson to regain his place in the starting 11 even after returning to fitness, and he has now joined Dundee United on a season-long loan.

Tillson has previously played a crucial role for County, making 32 Premiership appearances as the Dingwall outfit secured a top-six berth in 2021/22.

Even last year he was a reliable member of the squad, playing 32 times across all competitions as Malky Mackay's men secured safety in the most dramatic of circumstances in the play-off final.

Former Exeter City man Tillson will now be hoping to re-establish himself on the pitch on a regular basis at Tannadice, with Dundee United hoping he can provide vital experience and quality in their promotion charge in the second-tier.

United Manager Jim Goodwin briefly passed comment on strengthening his options in the middle of the park, telling the club's website: "We’re delighted to welcome Jordan to Tannadice.

"With more than 100 top-flight games under his belt with Ross County, he brings experience to a position in which we are slightly light at this current period of time, and we can’t afford to take any risks in that area of the pitch. We have no doubts he will greatly enhance the group."
