Inverness Tennis and Squad Club members Greg Lobban and Alan Clyne were both knocked out of the US Open in the opening round in Philadelphia last weekend.

Lobban was going into the tournament in good form having just secured the biggest win of his career in Hong Kong.

But that momentum was not enough to see him past Australian Cameron Pilley, losing 7-11, 9-11, 11-7, 6-11.

Clyne suffered the same fate, also losing 3-1 to Mexican Cesar Salazar.

Clyne’s sets were a little closer at 9-11, 8-11, 11-7 and 8-11, but that will be no consolation as his US Open journey ended just as it began.
