Carbon Positive Motorsport was launched last year and provided offsetting to competitors at all levels of the sport, including current British Rally champion Matt Edwards, former Scottish Rally Champion Jock Armstrong and the 2021 Scottish Ladies Rally Champion Ashleigh Morris.

The company who provides carbon offsetting for motorsport events, teams, competitors, and pectators, will provide carbon positive levels offsetting for all the rally organisation vehicles on the event itself.

This level of offsetting will provide, 25 per cent more carbon offsetting in the future than is generated today through the fuel use associated with their participation.

Snowman Rally clerk of the course Andy Jardine said: “Rallying has to move with the times and expects to be challenged on its green credentials as the world comes to terms with climate change.

“Until such times that electric vehicles are commonplace in motorsport, we have to accept that the best option available is to offset the fossil fuel used. “This year is our first step on this journey of offsetting, and we look forward to working with Carbon Positive Motorsport to make a difference.”

Carbon Positive Motorsport director, and former Snowman Rally competitor, Paul Glass said ‘We are delighted to support this year’s event and live up to our purpose to help make motorsport sustainable for future generations to enjoy.

“Wherever possible we work with an event by using local rewilding-based offsetting projects and not overseas schemes, such quality of projects creates greater environmental benefits than offsetting alone. I’m pleased that we will be supporting the Snowman Rally using woodland carbon code certified projects based at Loch Ness.”

The Snowman Rally is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 5.

The start and finish line has been relocated from Inverness to the Muir of Ord Showground to accommodate any Covid restrictions.

The drivers regroup will return to Dingwall Town Centre after its success in 2020 and take place halfway through the rally.
