Despite a shaky start, Athletic knocked in three goals in either half to secure a much needed win.

Dean Allison and Phil Macdonald both bagged doubles and Dominick Edwards and Liam Symonds chipped in with the others as Athletic boosted their points tally.

Athletic’s caretaker manager Jason Golabek was happy with the performance.

“It was a great response after last week’s disappointment against Thurso,” he said.

“We got a clean sheet as well. Sandy Stephen did well coming in and he pulled off a couple of cracking saves.

“The boys played well, especially in the second half. It was a good win on the road.”

Athletic took the lead just before the half hour mark when Allison scored with a low drive.

Macdonald doubled the lead when he tucked away a pass from on-loan Clach player Edwards.

Allison scored again with a curling effort which put the visitors 3–0 up at the break.

It was more of the same in the second half and Macdonald stretched the lead when he beat a defender and passed the ball into the net.

Edwards made it five and Symonds rounded off the scoring heading home following a set piece.

St Duthus moved to the top of the table after a 12–0 romp against Bonar Bridge. Golspie Sutherland defeated Thurso 5–2 and Orkney won 3–1 at Halkirk United.
