TEENAGERS from several clubs in the Inverness area have been called up to the North squad to take on the South in Fort William on Sunday.

Two matches will take place at An Aird with the Fraser MacPhee Memorial Cup Under-14 clash taking place at noon.

It will be followed by the Under-17 match which takes place at 2pm.

Sixteen players have been called up to the North squad with managers Ross MacMillan and Gary Marshall taking charge.

Beauly are represented in the squad by six players who include Torrin Cairns, Calum MacIver, Thomas MacKinnon, Finlay MacLennan, Charlie MacRae and Lennox Stewart.

Iain Hunter from Inverness and Angus Mearns from Lovat have also been called up to the squad.

Five players from Kinlochshiel have been called up to the squad.

They include Rory Barkley, Arran Jack, Campbell Lamont, Archie MacRae and Rory Slaughter. Cam Stephen (Fort William), Euan Dingwall (Newtonmore) and Kyle Nolan from Kilmallie are also in.

In the North Under-14 squad Glenurquhart duo Alfie MacLeod and Murphy Ross along with Daniel Kruger from Inverness and Doug Brockie from Lovat have all received call-ups.

Kinlochshiel duo Lexie MacKenzie and Kieran Martin along with James Clark (Fort William) Hayden Taylor-Ramsay (Kingussie) and Lewis Luxton (Kilmallie) are also called up.

Newtonmore quartet Jacob Bain, Joe Coyle, Arran Ford and Lewis MacIntosh along with Skye trio Arran Ford, Iain MacInnes and Nui Nicolson complete the squad.

Camanachd Association youth director Willie MacDonald said: “There is no doubt in my mind that it would have been a real challenge for this year’s respective coaches to narrow down the pool of talent to the squads.”

He added: “However, what is clear is that we have a lot of top talent who will be on display this weekend.

“This experience will be formative for many of the players involved who will have aspirations of moving through the pathway and representing Scotland in the near future.”
