Lovat retained the Lovat Cup as they lifted the trophy for the sixth consecutive match as they held Beauly to a draw in Kiltarlity.

Both goals were scored in the second half with Calum Macaulay giving Lovat the lead but Ross Forbes equalised for Beauly.

Neither team could find a winner as the match finished 1-1, but due to the rules of the match, Lovat retained the Lovat Cup as they were the holders.

Lovat player Martin Mainland was named as the man of the match in an entertaining afternoon at Balgate.

It was the first time the match had been played since 2020, as the clash was cancelled in 2021 and 2022 due to the Covid pandemic and last year due to a frozen pitch.

Beauly's long wait for the trophy goes on as they have not won the fixture since 2015.

The match will also be used as preparation for the 2024 campaign, where this season Beauly and Lovat will be playing in different divisions.

Lovat remain in the Premiership after they finished the 2023 campaign in sixth place with seven wins from their 18 games.

They reached the semi finals of the Camanachd Cup losing 2-0 to Oban Camanachd.

Beauly’s first ever season in the Premiership ended in disappointment when they were relegated back to the National Division after finishing in 11th place.

Despite a strong start to the season, Beauly ended the campaign with 12 defeats from their 18 games, with five wins and one draw.
