Now he says the club are looking to continue their winning start to the campaign when Oban Camanachd come calling to Braeview on Saturday.

Beauly, who were promoted to the top flight for the first time after finishing second in the National Division last season, got their season off to a winning start.

Forbes (32) gave Beauly the lead after 29 minutes, but Keith Macrae equalised for Kinlochshiel in the 63rd minute. But Finlay Maclennan scored the winner for Beauly two minutes later.

Forbes says beating one of the sport’s heavyweights on the opening day was the perfect start.

“We were going into our first game at that level with a couple of defenders down not knowing what to expect,” he said.

“We were looking for a good result and it was great to get it.

“When you look at the Premiership this year, there aren’t going to be any easy games.

“Kinlochshiel have been one of the top teams in recent years, so to get a result off them is great.

“We’ve not set any expectations, we just want to build on our performances every week, rather than looking at results.

“Even last year when we were winning most games, it was about performances rather than results and it stood us in good stead.”

Beauly are back at Braeview on Saturday as their game with Oban Camanachd has switched venue due to Mossfield Park being unavailable.

Forbes says they will look to use home advantage to continue their winning run.

He said: “We want to make our home a fortress and win as many games as we can.

“Beauly have aspired to get into the Premiership for years and we want to make the most of it.”
