Three Inverness players have been named in shinty’s teams of the year for 2023.

Club captains were asked to nominate players from other teams to narrow down the pool into a shortlist, with the most popular suggestions then being put to a public vote on social media.

In total, just under 20,000 votes were cast to decide on four teams of the year, representing the men’s Premiership and National Divisions, and the women’s National Division and Division Two.

As far as Inverness representation goes, they had three players voted into the select squads across the two women’s teams.

In the National Division, goalkeeper Caitlin Mutch was picked as the best of the bunch for last year. For the Division Two squad, wing centre Isla McNeil and half forward Kamryn Hughes both made it into the team of the year.

There were some Inverness connections among the selected few from other clubs too.

Two Inverness Caledonian Thistle footballers, Kirsty Deans and Lorna Macrae, were also selected.
