GLENURQUHART will be looking to pick up their first points of the Premiership campaign when they take on Skye in Drumnadrochit on Saturday.

It has been a tough start for the newly promoted side who finished in second place in the National Division last season.

After respectable performances in their first two games, which included a 3-2 defeat to Lovat and 2-0 loss to Kingussie, they suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat at Lochaber last weekend.

Manager Davie Stewart says it has been a tough start to their campaign in the top flight.

But he is confident they can pick up points as the season progresses and hopes they can start at Blairbeg Park on Saturday.

“We are three games into the season and have no points yet which is disappointing,” said Stewart.

“It has been tough, but we always knew that it would be.

“We have to be competitive in every game and try to do our best.

“We were competitive in our first two games and were unlucky not to get something against Lovat.

“Maybe less so against Kingussie, but it was a sterling defensive performance.

“But last Saturday against Lochaber was a disaster where nothing went right for us.

"However, the first two matches have given us hope that we can compete in matches this season.

“We will pick up points sometime this season, we just need to get momentum going.”

Glenurquhart host a Skye side who have had a good start to the season, winning two of their first three matches and find themselves in third place.

Stewart says they know Glenurquhart are facing a team in good form. But he is confident they can find a result to take them off the bottom.

“We are looking to pick up points every game.

“We will have to be at our best to get anything out of Skye who have a good strong squad this year.

“They have started the season well and it will be tough for us.
“Our main aim is to be competitive in the league and we will see wherever that takes us.”
