GLENURQUHART will look to secure promotion back to the Premiership if they can get a draw against Kilmallie in their final National Division game of the season.

The Drumnadrochit outfit only need one point to secure second place in the league and return to the top flight for the first time since 2018.

Glenurquhart are in third place in the National Division on goal difference from Fort William in second place.

But Fort William have completed all of their matches, leaving Glenurquhart’s promotion fate in their own hands.

Manager Davie Stewart says his team will go into their clash at Blairbeg Park with full confidence that they will get the job done.

“We are almost at full strength for the match on Saturday,” said Stewart.

“Nobody plays for a draw in shinty, when you play a game, you are always going for the win and it is our intention to go and get it.

“We know that we need to get something out of the game to win promotion.

“We only need a draw, but we are going for the win and we will approach it with the same attitude as we do with every game.”

Kilmallie still have an outside chance of claiming second place and promotion to the Premiership.

Stewart says with Kilmallie still having something to play for, Glenurquhart can’t afford to treat the match lightly.

“Kilmallie still have something to play for with their last two matches as we do with our final game.

“It might be more difficult for Kilmallie to win promotion, but if they beat us, then they are still in with a shout.

“Their goal difference isn’t something which can’t be overcome and they will be going all out for victory which I wouldn’t expect anything less from them.”

Stewart says winning promotion to the Premiership would mean a lot to the Drumnadrochit community.

“It has been our aim to get back to the Premiership and the way the season has gone, it is in our own hands.”
