SHINTY: Glengarry reach Single Team Cup final after winning 13-goal thriller

GLENGARRY Shinty Club are through to the final of the Single Team Cup after beating Lochcarron 8-5 in a 13-goal thriller at Invergarry.

Despite the deluge of goals at Craigard Park, the deadlock wasn’t broken until the 30th minute when Nick Dalgety scored.

Brian MacDonald doubled their advantage four minutes later, but Iain Mackenzie pulled one back immediately for Lochcarron. Shaun Nicolson scored three minutes before half time to give Glengarry a 3-1 lead at the break.

Raymond Robertson made it 4-1 in the 54th minute, but Lochcarron reduced the deficit to two on the hour mark through Sean MacCuish. Dalgety scored his second to make it 5-2 but Lochcarron responded again Crisdean Finlayson to make it 5-3 with 20 minutes left. Dalgety scored another two goals to make it 7-3, but Lochcarron still had hope when Finlayson completed his hat-trick to make it 7-5 with four minutes left.

But Nicolson scored in injury time to make it 8-5.

Glengarry will face Kilmory in the final after they beat Ballachulish 4-3.

In the Premiership, Lovat suffered a blow to their title aspirations drawing 2-2 with Caberfeidh at Balgate. The Kiltarlity club were 2-0 up after 28 minutes through Graeme Macmillan and Greg Matheson.

But Caberfeidh fought back in the second half through Blair Morrison and Finlay Coleman to take a point back to Strathpeffer.

Newtonmore remain two points clear at top with a 3-1 win at Oban Camanachd. Kingussie remain on their tails in second, with three games in hand, after a 3-0 win over Beauly. Kinlochshiel took a 1-0 derby victory over Skye at Portree and Kyles Athletic thrashed winless Glasgow Mid-Argyll 5-0.

In the National Division, Lochaber are three points clear after beating Kilmallie 3-1 in the top of the table clash.

Glenurquhart are third after thrashing Inveraray 7-0 and Fort William hammered Oban Celtic 7-1

In North Division One, Inverness hammered Lovat 7-3 at Bught Park. Ruairidh Hughes scored a hat-trick with Euan Campbell scoring twice along with Lorn Hughes and Iain Hunter scoring.
