SHINTY - Beauly are preparing for historic clash on Saturday

BEAULY is preparing itself for a historic day on Saturday when they will play their first ever match in the Premiership as they take on Kinlochshiel at Braeview.

Beauly gained promotion to the top flight of shinty for the first time after finishing second in the National Division in 2022.

The club also won the Balliemore Cup last season when they defeated Inveraray 5–1 in the final and have enjoyed success at youth level.

In addition, they won the MacTavish Juvenile Cup when they defeated Kinlochshiel 3–1 in the final.

Co-managers Gregor MacCormick and Niall Maclennan are back in charge of Beauly who will be looking to make a big impression in the top flight this season.

Meanwhile, Lovat will be looking to bounce back from their bad start to the campaign last weekend when they take on champions Kingussie at Balgate.

Lovat suffered defeat in their opening match last weekend when they went down 3–1 to Caberfeidh at Castle Leod.

Kingussie will be playing their first match of the campaign at Kiltarlity after not being in action last weekend.

Caberfeidh will look to continue their winning start to the season when they travel to Argyll to take on Kyles Athletic at Tighnabruaich.

Newtonmore are set to face Glasgow Mid-Argyll at The Eilan and Skye will face Oban Camanachd at Portree.

In the National Division, Glenurquhart play their first competitive match at Drumnadrochit this season when they face South Division One champions Col Glen at Blairbeg Park.

Glenurquhart were held to a 2–2 draw at Fort William on the opening day of the season while Col Glen held Oban Celtic to a 1–1 draw at Glendaruel.

Cannich outfit Strathglass look for their first win of the campaign when they travel to Oban Celtic. Kilmallie face Inveraray in the other National League match.

In North Division One, Inverness look to continue their winning start when they face Glenurquhart at Bught Park.

Glengarry look to make it two wins out of two when they host Skye at Craigard Park. Kingussie face Lovat at The Dell and Kinlochshiel face Beauly.

In North Two, Boleskine face Strathspey at Inverarnie. Strathglass face Inverness, Caberfeidh v Aberdeen University, Lochaber v Lewis and Locharron v Kilmallie.
