JORDAN MacDonald will look to each and every one of his Clachnacuddin players to prove they are better than Saturday’s seven-goal thumping by Brora Rangers.

The Lilywhites were unceremoniously dumped out of the Highland League Cup by the rampant Sutherland side, leaving them winless in six competitive fixtures so far.

It doesn’t get any easier for MacDonald and his team in coming weeks, with Fraserburgh, Formartine, Huntly, Brora and Banks o’ Dee next up in the league.

“Brora were very good and we were very poor – simple as that,” the manager said.

“We just didn’t turn up or do the basics that we’re supposed to. Brora were very good, but with the players we’ve got we shouldn’t be getting beaten 7-0.

“That’s a fact.I don’t care who we’re playing, it simply wasn’t good enough.

“But I know we’re a lot better than that, so it is up to us to lift them and up to them, as well, to get their heads down and get going again.

“There are difficult games ahead, but we’ll only get through them by sticking together and getting back to doing the basics right.”

Elsewhere in the league cup first round, Nairn County – who face Lossiemouth at Station Park tomorrow evening in the North Cup – were edged out 3-2 at Keith.

Fraser Dingwall and Ross County loanee Andrew Macleod netted replies for the Wee County, but Keith’s Joey Wilson popped up with the winner.

Holders Banks o’ Dee made a surprise 4-2 home exit at the hands of Forres Mechanics, but Brechin City lived up to favourites’ status in a 3-1 win over Formartine United 3-1 in Pitmedden.

Fraserburgh knocked nine past hosts Deveronvale without reply, while Buckie hammered Turriff 4-0 at home and Strathspey Thistle edged out Lossiemouth. 1-0 in Grantown. Greg Mitchell’s double for Inverurie Locos helped seal a 3-2 triumph away to Rothes.
