HIGHLAND had only one squad in action at the weekend with the 2nd XV travelling through to play Aberdeenshire 3rd XV at Woodside.

A superb performance saw them win 17-65 and raise them to third in the league. The squad composed a good number of players with 1st XV experience, former U18’s and new recruits.

Such is the depth of ability in that pool none of the current 1st XV squad were pulled in. The level of play evident on Saturday has boosted title expectations and confidence in tackling the two Aberdeen University sides that top the table.

Highland scored 11 tries: a hat-trick from James Murray, two by Craig Little and one each for James Taylor, Robbie Rapson, Grant Jamieson, Seamus Ross, Jordan Snitch and Angus Gray with five conversions by Rory Carson.

Next Saturday the 2nd XV have a welcome home match against Banff after so many trips away. The 1st XV are back in action as they travel to play RAF Lossiemouth.
