KINGUSSIE were crowned Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup winners after they soared to a 4-0 final win against Glenurquhart at the Bught Park, Inverness, on Saturday.

More than 5,000 packed into the Highland capital venue, largely from the Badenoch town and from Drumnadrochit to see which Premiership side would come out on top.

Heroes in the Kingussie team included a youngster showing plenty of promise and the sport's best-ever hit-man.

Two goals from 17-year-old Savio Genini shot him into the record books.

The talented teen has become the youngest player to have scored in every round of shinty's top competition after netting against Lovat, Kyles Athletic and Fort William on the way to the final.

Experienced striker Ronald Ross, who vows to retire now from first-team action, bagged the other two goals for the winners to cap a great day all round for the sparkling Kings.

Kingussie have now won the Camanachd Cup a stunning 23 times, a remarkable record which the club can be rightly proud of.

Glenurquhart have had a terrific season by finishing third in the league and reaching this, their first Camanachd Cup final since 1988. It is now hoped co-bosses Billy Maclean and Dave Menzie decide to remain in their posts after planning to take the team for just one year.
