Jason Russell has been hailed as Inverness' most decorated boxer after he won his sixth title by becoming the Scottish Open Super heavyweight youth title.

The Highland Boxing Academy athlete took only 40 seconds to defeat Dylan Greig in a first-round stoppage to become champion once again.

The 17-year-old now has three Scottish Open titles along with a Scottish novice title, Scottish intermediate title and tri nations title as he strengthened his reputation as the top boxer in his age group.

HBA head coach Liam Foy said the significance of Russell's record could not be understated.

"The win puts Russell firmly in the history books in Inverness as the city's most decorated boxer having now won a staggering six titles.

"It is one more than his club mate Jake MacDonald who had previously been joint equal with Jason up until this weekend."

"He is just racking up the titles – significantly to win the Scottish Open for the third time is impressive."
