ROSS County will start their Scottish League Cup campaign with a home tie against League One side Ayr United.

The Honest Men, bossed by former Dundee United and Falkirk manager Ian McCall, were 2-0 winners against Brechin City on Saturday to set up this tie against Jim McIntyre's team.

The second round draw took place at Hampden Park in Glasgow today (Monday) when most Scottish Premiership clubs came into the reckoning.

Celtic, Aberdeen, Inverness CT, St Johnstone and Dundee United enter the competition in round three.

County, whose season began on Saturday with a 2-0 league defeat at champions Celtic, will be looking for a big improvement on last year's League Cup performance when they were knocked out in round three by a 2-0 home defeat by Hibs.

The full second round draw is: Hibs v Stranraer, Queen of the South v Morton, Partick Thistle v Falkirk, East Fife v Motherwell, Dunfermline Athletic v Dundee, Ross County v Ayr United, Raith Rovers v Hamilton, Airdrie v Rangers, St Mirren v Livingston, Forfar Athletic v Hearts, Kilmarnock v Berwick Rangers.

Ties to be played on August 25 and 26.
