Ross County have moved out of the relegation zone in the Premiership as they claimed a shock win against Hibernian at Easter Road.

George Harmon's strike on the stroke of half time, along with Alex Iacovitti's goal in the second half, gave the Staggies victory to move them up to 10th place in the table.

They are now three points ahead of Kilmarnock in 11th and six ahead of Dundee United at the foot of the table.

The win will be a confidence booster to County who play their final match before the World Cup break at champions Celtic on Saturday.

Ross County made two changes to the team which defeated St Mirren 3-2 in Dingwall last week.

David Cancola came on for Jordy Hiwula with Keith Watson on for Jack Baldwin who is out injured.

After a slow start to the match, the first chance came midway through the first half for Hibernian. Rocky Bushiri's cross from the left wing found the head of Mykola Kuharevich who from 12 yards out nodded wide.

However Ross County had a golden chance to score just before half time when Owura Edwards' cross found Jordan White.

His shot from eight yards out was deflected out by a sliding challenge from Paul Hanlon for a corner.

However, the Staggies did take the lead on the stroke of half time when Harmon managed to beat the Hibernian defence to Yan Dhanda's cross and toe poke a low drive past David Marshall.

Ross County made a bright start to the second half when White played a great ball to Dhanda at the edge of the box, but he fired his shot wide of the left post.

But Hibernian began to stamp their authority on the second half and Ryan Porteous came close to giving Hibs the equaliser with a long range effort which forced a good save from Ross Laidlaw.

However, Ross County doubled their advantage with 12 minutes remaining when Harmon's great ball from the left wing found Iacovitti unchallenged in the box to tap home from eight yards out and seal victory.
