Ross County held in summer friendly at Nairn

NAIRN County earned a deserved 1-1 draw with Scottish Premiership side Ross County in a pre-season friendly at Station Park on Saturday.
The Highland League side matched their visitors for endeavour and fitness and will be delighted with that ahead of Tuesday’s AJG Parcels North of Scotland Cup tie against Forres Mechanics.
The Dingwall side, meanwhile, are off to Holland this week for a pre-season camp which finishes on Friday with a match against top-flight Dutch team FC Twente.
Nairn took the lead after 12 minutes when a deflected Adam Naismith shot beat goalkeeper Antonio Reguero to the delight of the home crowd.
The gained confidence from that and Robbie Duncanson curled an effort just over the top moments later.
In response, Rocco Quinn steered a shot just wide and Jake Jervis knocked a Richard Brittain free-kick just wide.
Tim Dreesen then had a shot saved by Callum Donaldson as Ross County pressed for the leveller.
The Victoria Parkers finished strongly, with Melvin de Leeuw, Brittain and Quinn all going close.
They were rewarded for their efforts early in the second half when two subs linked.
Joe Cardle looked a threat on the left flank and he neatly played the ball in for Liam Boyce, who netted from an acute angle.
At the other end, Adam Naismith drew a save from Reguero and Nairn sub Paul Macleod drove a shot over the bar after being found by Michael Morrison.
The hosts seemed the most likely to get the winner and Glenn Main shot over the crossbar as Reguero advanced to challenge.
In the closing moments, Macleod nearly clinched it for Nairn, but he fired wide of goal.
