Mark Ridgers says he is relishing the chance to play against former team-mate Lawrence Shankland.

The pair were colleagues at St Mirren, but will be in direct competition on Saturday when Ridgers’ Caley Thistle take on Ayr United.

Shankland is at the centre of a transfer saga after firing the Honest Men to the League One title last season and beginning the current campaign in a rich vein of form, and the goalkeeper reckons the striker always had what it takes to go on and play at a higher level.
