The Sun has reported the 20-year-old will be heading back to the Caledonian Stadium on a season long loan deal.

Championship rivals Ayr United, Raith Rovers and League One outfit Dunfermline Athletic are also reported to be interested.

But it is reported MacKay is keen to head back to Inverness where he came through the club's youth academy.
