Karen Mason feels the same mistakes are costing Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s women results in the SWF Championship.

ICT held what seemed like a comfortable 2–1 lead against Livingston last Sunday, only for the Lions to win 3–2.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Ayr, then, Mason knows there is still hard work to be done to solve those problems.

“Unfortunately it’s just more errors from ourselves and lapses in concentration that let other teams in,”Mason explained.

“I don’t think we’re the worst team at all – we’re dominating the ball, not being able to finish chances ourselves, and then conceding far too many soft goals. That has cost us again.

“In every game we’ve been beaten, it has been by a single goal, and any game we’ve won has been by a single goal too.

“It’s hard to take, but it’s possible to do better. Teams play each other four times, and if we know it’s going to be close every time then any team can win on their day.

“It’s hard lessons for us to learn, and obviously we’re still not there yet.”

In the Highlands and Island League, there was a rare Tuesday evening game this week due to the backlog of fixtures between Clachnacuddin and ICT Development in Alness.

It was the Caley Jags who came out on top though, winning 2–1 to claim all three points – and hand the league title to Buckie.

Betty Ross had put the Lilywhites ahead, only for Simone Coles to score twice to turn things around in ICT Development’s favour.

Inverness return to action at home against Sutherland on Sunday, with the battle for second now going into overdrive in the final weeks of the campaign.
