ICT's Edward Ofere celebrates his goal against Aberdeen.

CALEY Jags striker Edward Ofere reckons he and Marley Watkins have struck up a lethal partnership.

Now he hopes they can help fire the club to William Hill Scottish Cup glory and onto the Europa League.

The Nigerian hitman has blasted four goals in five starts in all competitions since arriving in February, with one in each of his last three including Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Aberdeen.

The 29-year-old was set up by Watkins for his strikes against the Dons and in the previous week’s rollercoaster Scottish Cup semi-final win against Celtic, clashes in which John Hughes paired them up front together. Ofere believes they work well as a duo and hopes they can continue terrorising defences until the end of the season.

On his goal against Aberdeen, he said: "It felt brilliant – it was great work from Marley to set me up – he’s assisted me for two goals in two games. I think we work well together, a great combination goal from both of us.

"I headed the ball, it bounced back from the keeper then I just smashed it in while I was on the ground."

Ofere’s 48th minute opener wasn’t enough to dispatch the Dons last weekend, after a David Raven own goal and a Niall McGinn strike saw the visitors steal the points after the hosts had missed a glut of gilt-edged first half chances.

Former Lecce and Malmo man Ofere felt ICT were excellent in the first half, but paid the price for failing to cash in on their opportunities.

He stressed: "We deserved to win the game. It was a disappointing end.

"We fell behind after the goal which we shouldn’t have done, we should have kept going on.

"It’s a shame because we played fantastically in the first half."

In his time at Lecce, Ofere turned out against giants such as Juventus, Inter and AC Milan, but insists next month’s Scottish Cup final against Falkirk will be one of the biggest games of his career.

He said: "It’s definitely one of the top games in my career and it’s fantastic for the team and for everybody in Inverness.

"We have that in sight but we have to keep focused on what is at hand and hopefully when the cup final comes we we’ll be able to make it count.

"When it comes we take it but for now we concentrate on the league."
