Highland’s Raptors can return to the top of Caledonia North two with a win tomorrow – adding extra spice, if any was needed, to their local derby against Ross Sutherland.

The Invergordon outfit are due to make the relatively short journey to Canal Park for the second meeting of the season between the sides.

Back on the opening day of the campaign, Highland dominated the scoring, recording a 41–0 victory at the Naval Grounds, but at the time Ross Sutherland felt it was a closer contest than the points tallies suggested.

Tomorrow, then, Highland’s second team will be out to prove that the gap between the two teams really is that big.

If the Raptors can pick up a bonus point victory, they will also move to the top of the league table.

Nathan Mclaughlan’s side already know that their title aspirations are in their own hands.

With three games left to play, 11 points would be enough to make sure that the Caledonia North Two trophy stays in their possession at Canal Park ahead of the only other side in contention, Aberdeenshire.

The current standings have Highland one place behind Aberdeenshire, but that will likely change tomorrow if the Raptors pick up five points with all but a very narrow win giving them a better points difference.

The Raptors are not the only Highland squad in action at Canal Park this weekend, though, as the third team will also step on to the pitch tomorrow.

Highland are one of three teams sitting on 25 points in Caledonia North Four as the days count down to the end of the season, but once again it is the Inverness outfit in pole position.

They have won all five of the matches they have played so far, while Dyce have played one game more and Caithness an extra one on top of that.

Tomorrow will be a pivotal moment in the title race regardless of the outcome, with the stakes incredibly high for a battle of the top two.

Dyce’s only defeat in the league this season came right at the start of the campaign, away at Deeside in September, so both teams will be high on confidence going into what could well turn out to be a title decider.
