Jordan Macdonald says getting to the North of Scotland Cup final is a fantastic achievement for Clachnacuddin – but instead of thinking about cup glory just yet he hopes it gives them a Highland League boost.

Robbie Thompson and Connor Bunce each scored twice in a 4–1 win over Rothes in the semi final, and the Lilywhites will now face Brora Rangers for the trophy.

However, before then Macdonald is focused on rising up the league table, and he is hoping that such an exciting occasion in the future can help spur Clach on to more wins.

“It’s massive for us, for a young team to get there it’s absolutely brilliant,” Macdonald said.

“It’s brilliant for the club, and brilliant for the players. I’m delighted for them and the board as well, because they have backed us when we’ve asked them to and I’m delighted they have now seen the club get to a cup final.

“I’m hoping it does give us a boost, but performances in the league haven’t been bad – barring Turriff where we were lucky it was only 4–1. We just haven’t been clinical enough.

“Sometimes you just start to wonder if it’s ever going to happen, but you’ve got to keep working hard to get out of that. That’s what we’ve done and we got the rewards on Wednesday.

“Now we need to turn our attentions to Saturday, because it’s a massive game for us against Rothes again and they will be chomping at the bit to put that right.”

Clachnacuddin will likely be without Donald Morrison, who picked up a groin issue midweek, but Macdonald does not expect it to be the same Rothes visiting Grant Street Park tomorrow either.

“It’s going to be a very tough game for us,” he stressed.

“When you do that to a team like we did, and you play them again so quickly, it’s always tough.

“Rothes are a good team with good players, so they will always look to respond. We need to be aware of that and aware of their threats, and carry our own threats again.

“At this moment in time the table doesn’t look too pretty for us, so it’s a great opportunity to try and get a home win, because we haven’t been great here since we came in.

“We can’t put our finger on why, but we’re under no illusions on how tough it will be because when you beat a team like that they will be hurting.”
