Inverness Caledonian Thistle captain Carl Tremarco insists winning promotion has to be the club's priority for the rest of the season.

The Caley Jags travel to Dunfermline tonight for a league match ahead of their Scottish Cup quarter final against Hibernian on Friday night.

With the league title seemingly out of reach after losing to Dundee United last time out, cup competitions now represent ICT's best chance of silverware this year.

A Challenge Cup final awaits next month, while Inverness will hope to go at least one better than last season's Scottish Cup final, but Tremarco believes league matches like tonight's have to be the top focus for Inverness.

"We're not looking to this Friday one little bit, we know how important the league games are," he maintained.

"We can't rest on our laurels, we can't keep anything in the tank from Tuesday potentially looking at Friday. Our bread and butter is finishing second, 100 per cent.

"If you offered me the Scottish Cup or promotion, it's promotion all day long.

"That's not just because I've won the Scottish Cup, that's because the club needs to get into the Premiership with the bigger picture. The focus is on three points, and nothing further."

It will be a landmark occasion for Tremarco as he is set to make his 200th appearance for Caley Thistle tonight.

The 34-year-old almost had the moment pass him by though, as he was not aware of the impending milestone until receiving an email about it last week.

Instead he just focuses on staying fit, playing as often as he can and performing for the team – although he admits he would not have expected to reach 200 games when moving to the Highlands in 2013.

"I knew the situation I was in when I came up here," Tremarco recalled.

"Number one, I didn't have a job, so I wasn't going to turn anything down. It was something that was always in the pipeline, when I was at Huddersfield Inverness tried to sign me then and it didn't work out.

"I think part of the reason Terry Butcher signed me was that I could push Graeme Shinnie, and I like to think I did that and then some, hence why he played a lot of games in centre midfield. They were comfortable whoever was playing left back.

"I just wanted to play as much as I could like any footballer. If you asked me when I first signed if I would be happy being here at 34 playing every game every week, I would have taken that.

"Injuries aside, I don't see why I can't play on to the end of the season, next season and the season after that as long as I keep myself right."
