A great performance by Highland saw them out-score the visitors by six tries to two, with coach Alisdair Wemyss in charge for the day.

Although both sides were missing a few regulars, it was the home side that stood out.

Prop Stuart Watson was a rock for the pack against a much bigger Kirkcaldy side, and the back row benefited from Andrew Findlater’s return. There was also an impressive debut by Welsh forward Rhodri Lucas.

In the backs, young Tom Brogan made a return at scrum-half and he will be a great asset as his fitness improves.

Morris Dillon is now using his experience at centre as he returns to playing rather than coaching.

It was a great day on the pitch and the coaches were impressed with the levels of fitness shown so early in the pre-season. It pleased new club president Geoff Begg and the club are looking good for the trip next Saturday for another pre-season friendly away to Oban Lorne.

This Tuesday, Glasgow Warriors host a rugby camp at Highland with a full training day for young players from P4 level up to under-15.

The day starts at 10am and finishes at 3pm. Along with players and coaches from the Warriors squad will be Guinness PRO12 title-winning captain Al Kellock.

The youngsters will receive a day of coaching as well as a full set of Warriors kit.
