Portland darts player Nicky Denoon wins Inverness Summer Darts Association Championship to become 25th different winner in Highland capital in 47-year history

Portland A star Nicky Denoon became the 25th different champion of the City Taxis Inverness Summer Darts Association since it’s inception 47 years ago in 1974.

In a high quality final Denoon defeated teammate James Fraser 3–1 to take the title and add his name to the Bomber Godsman Memorial Trophy.

The semi finalists were Michael Maclean (Seaforth Club) and Bruce MacDonald (Innes Power), and the last eight was made up by Jamie Fraser (East End Arrows), Nigel McEwan (East End Arrows), Gary Gunn (Tarradale) and Mark Fraser (East End Arrows).

En-route to the title Denoon notched five maximums, checkouts of 150 and 117 and a 12-dart leg.

With all the Summer League fixtures and competitions completed the traditional end of season finale, the Donny Clark Trophy, takes place in the Keppoch Inn tomorrow night where players from lower leagues get handicap starts over players in higher divisions.

The Seaforth Club in Nairn hosted a £1200 feast of darts last weekend with singles and doubles events being played.

Aberdeen-based Scottish International Matt Goldie lifted the £400 top prize, beating Seaforth’s Michael Maclean 5–3 in the final.

The losing semi finalists were both from the Inverness League, Doug Milne from Portland A and East End Arrows’ Mark Fraser.

Newly crowned Inverness champion, Nicky Denoon, teamed up with Ian MacKinnon from Battlefield Bullies to take the doubles final 3–1 against Seaforth’s Michael Maclean and Alan Fraser from East End Arrows.

The ladies’ singles was won by Mandy Anderson from the Keppoch Belles in Inverness.
