CLACH’S emergence from administration has allowed manager Iain Polworth to make enquiries about a player at a fellow Highland League club.

The Lilywhites were constrained while in financial difficulties but are now chasing a contracted player, who Polworth believes would strengthen their defensive record next term.

He was reluctant to identify the target but added he was also looking at free agents as well as continuing negotiations with players he has offered new deals to.

"I have managed to tie up a few bits and pieces but nothing I would want to publicise yet," he said. "We are close with a couple of the lads. We are always looking for out of contract players who could add to our squad and we have an offer in for a player at another team and we will see what happens with that.

"We have 14 signed players just now and ideally we want to make it 22 so there is a fair bit of work to do over the coming few weeks."

Clach’s opening fixture for next season is at Wick Academy before they host league champions Buckie Thistle in their first home game.

"It is a really difficult start for us," he commented. "We will have the league champions coming to our park in the second game of the season so we will have to hit the ground running."

He was pleased with the festive season back-to-back games against Fort William.

"Having a home fixture on Christmas Eve is just ideal," he added. "It means we can have Christmas Day and Boxing Day off without having to worry too much about what we eat over Christmas."

Meanwhile, Clachhave added a home game against Elgin City on 8th July to their pre-season schedule.
