CLACH boss Iain Polworth is looking for his Lilywhites to cut out "stupid" mistakes – and make Lossiemouth pay this Saturday.

The Merkinchers squandered several first half chances before Deveronvale completed a comeback 2-1 win at Grant Street Park last weekend.

Polworth hopes to see a swift reaction in Moray this Saturday when his troops make the trip to face Charlie Charlesworth’s Coasters in a clash he expects will be a tough one for his side.

He said: "Since Charlie has been back he’s got his own players and has improved them. It’s always a tough place to go and it will be a big test for us."

Lossie netted their first three points of the season with an impressive 2-1 victory at Fraserburgh last weekend, with substitute Ryan Green bagging both goals in the second half.

Polworth believes he and Joao Rodrigues, who he once tried to sign for Clach, are the men to watch for Lossie.

He added: "Rodrigues was a player we fancied, but travelling was an issue. Ryan Green has been around for a long time and is a well established goalscorer, so he’ll give us something to think about."

Blair Lawrie will be available for Clach, but Martin Callum will miss out through suspension.

Wastefulness in front of goal, coupled with defensive sloppiness cost the Lilies dear against Ally MacLeod’s Vale, who featured former Clach man David Watson in their side.

It was Clach who started brighter and they took the lead through Callum, who netted from close range after 27 minutes.

But the visitors levelled eight minutes later when Martin Charlesworth struck with a fine effort.

Former Turriff United striker Gary Harris settled the contest in the 67th minute with a typically well-taken goal before Callum was given his marching orders for retaliation.

Reflecting on the game, Polworth said: "We deserved more from it but if you make basic errors you’re going to get punished for them.

"We did enough in the first half. We created nine chances and only took one of them, which is a poor ratio.

"That’s the disappointing side of it. We had our chances but then made stupid mistakes.

"There was a bad tackle on Martin and he reacted to it. He did well apart from that and was probably our man of the match before it."
