A vast majority of fans would like to see clubs vote to bring video assistant referees (VAR) into the Scottish Premiership later this month.

A poll ran on the Inverness Courier and Ross-shire Journal websites returned an overwhelming majority in favour of using the technology, with 82.35 percent of people happy to see VAR's implementation.

The SPFL will put the resolution to a vote on April 19, with 75 per cent of Premiership clubs, 75 per cent of Championship clubs and 75 per cent of League One and League Two clubs combined will have to vote in favour for it to pass.

Should that happen, it is hoped that VAR will be installed and implemented for the Premiership's return from the Qatar World Cup in December.

Fans' perception would appear to be in line with the beliefs of clubs who have already indicated how they will vote.

According to Ross County assistant manager Don Cowie, no decision has yet been taken in Dingwall as to what ballot they will cast, but the former Scotland international believes any help that can be given to officials would be a good thing.

"I don't know how we are going to vote just yet," Cowie revealed.

"I think we can all agree that it can make football better if we've got VAR.

"You only have to look here last weekend, a penalty decision went against us that I don't think would have been given if VAR was here.

"If it can get a lot of the big decisions correct, then it only makes for a better game."
