Karen Darke agonisingly just missed out on a medal at the Commonwealth Games as she finished fourth in the women’s wheelchair paratriathlon.

She had previously won paratriathlon world championships, and has won Paralympic medals in paracycling.

But it had been years since she was at the top of the field across three disciplines, and she acknowledged going in that the sport had progressed a lot since she last competed.
