HIGHLAND have already began planning for next season, regardless of what league they could find themselves in.

The Greens, who are bottom of the table, know they simply must win their Caledonia Regional League Division One clash at home to fellow strugglers Ellon tomorrow to stand any chance of escaping possible relegation.

But with Ellon and second bottom Hillfoots both still having one game to play after this weekend, Highland’s prospects of beating the drop would seem bleak.

It has been a difficult season for Highland’s senior set-up, but plans are already afoot to regroup for next season, even though at this stage the club does not know where it could be.

"We don’t really know just now how many teams could go down," said chairman Andy Little. "It could be that three go down, but the likelihood is it will be just two.

"All we can do, however, is concentrate on Saturday’s game and try to get the win that might still give us a chance of staying up.

"Regardless of what happens, we will get one or two things sorted out during the summer when it comes to the senior side of the club.

"Potentially, we’ve got six of our under-18 squad staying in Inverness, so hopefully they will come into the senior set-up.

"Some of the guys in the current first-team squad have been there for a long time, but family commitments has meant travelling to games has been a problem for them.

"We need to look at that and then try and regroup one way or another. We know there might be one or two players currently outwith the club available as well, so that’s another avenue we will look at."

Little was expecting virtually a full squad at training last night from which a team will be selected to face Ellon at Canal Park tomorrow.
