Clachnacuddin chairman Alex Chisholm insists it was not an easy decision to part ways with former manager Jordan Macdonald.

It was confirmed earlier today that Macdonald had left the club, bringing to an end a three-year stint in the dug out at Grant Street Park.

It is three years and one month since Clach chairman Alex Chisholm welcomed Jordan Macdonald as the club's new manager.

His final game in charge saw the Lilywhites lose 8-0 to Huntly in the Highland League, but Chisholm stressed that the decision to part ways with their manager was not a knee-jerk reaction to the heavy defeat.

"It wasn't an easy decision," Chisholm explained.

"It was purely for footballing reasons – our reasons haven't been what we thought they should be.

"We have total respect for Jordan and Michael (Mackenzie, assistant manager) for the efforts they have put it, things just haven't worked out and we were at a point where we had to make a decision for the club.

"It's certainly not a knee-jerk reaction from us. We put some thought into these things, and we're not the kind of club to react in that way.

"We support our managers, but there comes a point when you've got to make a decision and that's what we did. It's not something we take lightly, we took a lot of time to make this decision.

"It's never a good thing, and after all the work they put in I'd like to wish Jordan and Michael all the best in whatever they do next."

It is extremely rare that Clachnacuddin sack managers, with Chisholm guessing that the last time it happened was in the 1980s.

However, with league matches against Brora Rangers in Inverness and then away to Banks O'Dee coming up in the next week, there will be very little time to stew over the decision before the search for a new manager begins.

Experienced players Blair Lawrie and Martin Callum will take charge of first team affairs until someone comes in, and they could be in that role for a little while if Chisholm has to wait for the right candidate to come along.

"We've got to look to the future now," Chisholm added.

"Obviously people know there's a vacancy there, and we'll advertise in the next 24 hours or so, but we have two capable people there at the moment who can get the team prepared.

"We would like to get someone in, but it needs to be someone we see as the right person to move the club forward.

"I would rather wait to get the right person, however long that takes, but we'll see what kind of response we get.

"We wouldn't be doing our jobs if we didn't have a profile in mind. We have always been keen to give people a chance in football, but it will be a case of seeing which candidates come forward.

"There's also the financial side of things. Certain clubs can afford a certain type of manager, and others can't.

"There will be a mix of things we will look at, and we'll do the best we can to get the right person for Clachnacuddin Football Club."
