FIN Graham says winning silver medals at the Paralympic Games last year was the incentive to drive him forward to win a hat-trick of gold medals at the UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championship.
The Strathpeffer cyclist claimed three gold medals and a silver medal at Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in France.
Graham (23) claimed victories in the C3 scratch race final, in the C3 individual pursuit and in the C3 Omnium.
He also claimed a silver medal in the C3 1km Time Trial to establish himself as one of the top para-cyclists in the world.
Graham says winning two silver medals at the Paralympics in Tokyo last year was the motivation that he needed to take the next step up in his career and become a world champion in the velodrome, as well as his road title.
“There has been a massive improvement in my performance,” said Graham.
“That year we had with Covid, I made the most of that and I got stronger on the bike.
“Having that year made all the difference and since Tokyo, I wanted to make the difference to get the gold having missed out on it at the games.
“I worked so hard this year and it is nice it has paid off and the results are showing.”
In the C3 scratch race final, Graham took control and led from the front for the majority of the 60-lap race to claim gold.
In the C3 individual pursuit, he rode 4000 metres in a time of three minutes and 24.596 seconds.
He won the Omnium world title in straight event wins, not dropping a single point across the competition to claim his third Rainbow Jersey.
He was part of the Great Britain team which had its most successful world championships.
The squad claimed 20 world titles, four silver medals and four bronze medals.
He was a full 14 seconds ahead of the chasing pack to claim the title.
Graham was in the Great Britain squad at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo last year when he won a silver medal in the Men’s C1-3 Road Race.
He also claimed a silver medal in the 3000 metres individual pursuit.
