Over 250 crews from across take part in the Inverness Winter Head and Scottish Student Rowing Head

OVER 250 crews from across Scotland took part in the Inverness Winter Head and Scottish Student Rowing Head last weekend.

Crews raced a course of 4500 metres from Dochgarroch to the Inverness Rowing Club’s Boathouse close to the Tomnahurich Swing Bridge.

In the Eights events, the fastest men's crew of the weekend was the St Andrew Boat Club eight (Neil Paul) in a time of 14 minutes 43,19 seconds.

The fastest women's crew was the University of St Andrews Boat Club crew (Araminta Azis) in a time of 16 minutes 50.64 seconds.

In Quad Sculls events, the fastest men's crews came from St Andrew Boat Club (Andrew Patton) in a time of 15 minutes 12.62 seconds. The fastest women's crew came from the University of St Andrews Boat Club (Harriet White) in a time of 17 minutes 4.84 seconds.

The fastest men's coxless four came from St Andrew Boat Club (Brady Stevens) in 17 minutes 12.43 seconds with Nina Petric-Gray stroking the Clydesdale ARC women's crew to win in 18 minutes 23.53 seconds.

Aiden Graham stroked the University of St Andrews Boat Club coxed four to win in 16 minutes 28.59 seconds with the women's coxed four from the University of St Andrews Boat Club stroked by Araminta Azis winning in 18 minutes 33.55 seconds.

In the Small Boats events, the fastest men’s crew was the Strathclyde University Boat Club double sculls crew (Ben Parsonage) of 16 minutes 14.74 seconds. Fastest women’s crew was the double scull from the University of St Andrews University Boat Club (Maria Afonina) in a time of 18 minutes 20.84 seconds.

In coxless pairs events, the fastests man's crew came from St Andrew Boat Club (Andrew Patton) in a time of 16 minutes 42.58 seconds whilst the fastest women's crew was the Aberdeen Boat Club crew stroked by Ellen Smith in 18 minutes 40.48 seconds.

Fastest women’s single sculler was Catriona Bain from Aberdeen Boat Club in 20 minutes 7.09 seconds whilst Ben Parsonage from Strathclyde University Boat Club was fastest men's single sculler in a time of 17 minutes 20.64 seconds.
