GRANTOWN-on-Spey's Duncan Stewart has launched a novel approach to funding his ambitions and expenses by putting shares in himself up for sale.

A college friend of Inverness’s PGA Tour star Russell Knox, Stewart plans to split his winnings with his shareholders.

The radical move comes after he ended the PGA EuroPro Tour in sixth place with £15,405 — an agonising £363 behind the fifth place earner in a competition where the top five move up to the Challenge Tour.

Stewart still aspires to move up the grade and hopes fan support will help by placing 150 shares for sale at £100 each.

The level of returns to shareholders depends on how many shares he sells and if he sells more than 101 he will split his prize money in half.

Anyone who buys 10 or more shares will be entitled to have their name or company somewhere on the former two-time North District amateur champion’s clothing.

Fellow Scotsman and former Open champion Paul Lawrie has already pledged his support and bought 10 shares through his Golf Foundation scheme.

Potential investors should contact Duncan Stewart by email: duncanstewartgolf@hotmail.co.uk or phone: 07890 881042.
