The newly formed amateur side, who will play matches in the IDFA Second Division at Bught Park, will be managed by Athletic's under-20 management duo of Mike Hall and Andrew McGhee.

The summer amateur league season is due to start on Monday, June 7 with Athletic playing three friendlies against AFC River Ness, Culloden Blacksmiths and Black Isle United beforehand.

Hall said: “We are delighted that we are able to finally announce our plans for the creation of an Amateur side.

"This has been six or seven months in the planning and will be a brilliant addition to the Football Club. "Unfortunately, the Under 20s season was unable to go ahead due to Covid-19 so this is a welcome boost for us.

"The squad will be mainly made up of the clubs Under 20s players but with the odd experienced head in there too.

"Myself, Andrew and the players can’t wait to get started.”
