GLENURQUHART and Lochaber renew old rivalries when they clash in tomorrow’s Orion Premiership match at Spean Bridge with both clubs in need of a win after a faltering start to their league campaigns.

With three matches completed, the teams occupy the relegation berths, Lochaber marginally better off with a solitary point, while the Glen have yet to break their duck for the season.

Glenurquhart co-manager Fraser MacKenzie, however, is not about to press the panic button and is confident the team will quickly return to winning ways.

"We had difficult schedule what with Newtonmore and Kyles up first and then Kinlochshiel away," he said. "In each one we lost by just one goal, so that tells me we are not far away.

"In all three games I was happy with the performance overall, although I have to admit we are struggling to convert chances.

"Against ‘Shiel we deserved at least a share of the points as we had nearly two-thirds of the game."

MacKenzie and his managerial partner Drew MacNeil are not planning wholesale changes as they bid to get their league campaign off the ground.

"It is fairly likely that we will go with the same starting line-up as we had against ‘Shiel," he said. "The boys are not happy with where we are, so I expect to see a big reaction on Saturday."

MacKenzie was pleased with the contribution of striker Neale Reid, who is battling back to full fitness from a broken arm sustained in October’s international. Andy Corrigan should get his second start of the season after missing out through work commitments.

Lovat entertain Kinlochshiel with each club on the three-point mark. Lovat manager Allan MacRae welcomes back captain Calum Cruden and Lorne MacKay from suspension.

Even after just three matches, ‘More and Kyles are threatening to make the Premiership a two-horse race and they meet tomorrow at Tighnabruaich.

Kyles are the only Premiership side with a 100 per cent record and a fourth straight win this weekend would see them open up a three-point lead at the top of the table.

Elsewhere, Kingussie and Inveraray clash at the Dell, while Fort William take on Oban Camanachd.

In North Division One, Aird rivals Beauly and Strathglass face each other at Braeview with the visitors reeling from last Saturday’s shock defeat against Inverness.

The Highland Capital club, buoyed by their fine 4-2 win over the Strath, travel to Kilmallie with Duncan Kelly’s side out to maintain their 100 per cent record.

Former Fort William player James Cameron has hit 10 goals so far this season and Inverness manager Allan MacLeod will be hoping that he can maintain his scoring streak.

Skye and Caberfeidh meet in Portree with both sides looking to kickstart their league campaigns after they were each defeated in last weekend’s matches.
