Highland take on Aberdeen Grammar at Canal Park tomorrow afternoon before travelling to Dundee next weekend to wrap up the first half of the season.

The Inverness outfit are in sixth place in National One and while they have ruled themselves out of title contention, they are still looking for a strong second half of the campaign.

With Aberdeen Grammar second bottom of the table with only two wins all season, Carson says it is a match where they are targeting a bonus point win.

But he would also be happy with winning the games to round off 2022 and go into 2023 in positive mood.

“This is the last home game in our centenary year so we are looking for a good victory with a good crowd and record a five point victory.

“We are still pushing for a top four finish and we are looking to grapple every point that we can.

“It is our aim to get nine points, but 10 if we can for our final two matches in the year and that will leave us in a good place to attack the second half of the season.

“I will be happy with a win, but if we can get a bonus to go along with it, that will leave me absolutely delighted.

“We really need to push for a bonus point win against Aberdeen Grammar and then look to get at least a victory at Dundee.

“That will keep us in the mix to be the top four or five teams in the league this season.”

Highland will look to bounce back from last week’s agonising 18-14 defeat at Ayr.

Highland were 14-3 ahead at half time thanks to tries from Magnus Holden and Hugo Crush which were both converted by Scott Fraser. But Ayr came storming back in the second half, with Scott Watson scoring the winning try in the last minute.
