Peyton Manning may be one of the greatest American football players of all time – but he has taken time out to wish Invernessian Daniel Kane well in his career in the sport.

Former Millburn Academy pupil Kane was being inducted into the Highland Wildcats hall of fame when he was surprised by a message from the two-time Super Bowl champion.

Manning is widely considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks the sport has ever seen, holding the record for the most MVP awards of anyone in the NFL during his time playing for the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos.

Meanwhile, since leaving Inverness, Kane has gone on to represent one of the best university American football sides in the UK at Stirling University, and moved on to play professionally in Germany and Canada.

Although going around the world through sport, Kane still considers the Wildcats his home, and his achievements were recognised at the club's end of season awards ceremony last weekend.
