THE top Artemis Macaulay Cup quarter-final takes place at The Dell on Saturday as Kingussie meet derby rivals Newtonmore with a fair degree of confidence.

In one of three last eight games set for this weekend, Kings manager Russell Jones has put all thoughts of the Camanachd Cup out of his mind, with the focus of his squad’s attention being firmly on defeating Newtonmore and advancing to the semi-final.

For ’More manager Paul John MacKintosh, this will be his team’s last chance of cup glory after recent MacTavish Cup and Camanachd Cup exits.

In the other North area quarter-final, Lovat have home advantage over Fort William.

A win over Glenurquhart in the opening round set up this tie for Fort. But a second win over Premiership opposition may prove a bridge too far for the National Division team.

After a storming start to their season which saw them win all of their opening nine fixtures, a MacTavish Cup semi-final win over Kinlochshiel has been Lovat’s only victory in their last four matches.

The Lovat players will certainly be up for Fort’s visit, and with MacTavish Cup final places to play for, no player in Allan MacRae’s squad will want to miss out on the big day at the Bught on June 21.

Oban Camanachd will be expected to win the sole South area quarter-final against fellow Marine Harvest National Division side Glenorchy at Dalmally.

The winners will face either Glasgow Mid Argyll or Kyles Athletic, who go head-to-head the following Saturday.
