JOHN Newsom says representing Scotland at the Commonwealth Half Marathon in Cardiff will be the biggest honour in his senior athletics career.
The Inverness Harrier will be competing in a top class international field in the Welsh capital on Sunday.
The 33-year-old from Nairn was called up to the Scotland squad after achieving a qualifying time of 68:51 at the Inverness Half Marathon in March.
It is the first time in six years Newsom has been selected to represent Scotland and he says it will be a proud moment to compete in the national jersey.
"As a senior athlete this is probably the biggest honour that I have ever achieved so it is the most significant race in my career," he said.
